Administrator Training

CALIFORNIA DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION/CALIFORNIA DEPARTMENT OF SOCIAL SERVICES -- DESIRED RESULTS SYSTEM TRAINING

The California Department of Education, California Department of Social Services (CDE/CDSS) Desired Results (DR) System Regional Training will offer virtual training for administrators. The virtual training model includes facilitated virtual training from October 2021 thru May 2022. There is an optional community of practice the second Thursday of every month October-May.

The administrator training incorporates an overview and in-depth information about the Desired Results system; the implementation of the system at the classroom, program, and agency levels; reports including analyzing self-evaluation data and using data for quality improvement; and additional support on specific components of the Desired Results system. Participants also complete selected online modules available at California Early Childhood Online (CECO) www.caearlychildhoodonline.org.

Experienced administrators may attend any virtual facilitated session after October 6. The virtual training session for administrators includes methods to support implementation of the Desired Results system, updates, new products and job aids. Registration is required.

Registration for administrators is on a first come, first served basis determined by the following priorities:

  • New California State Preschool Program (CSPP) administrators
  • Recommendation of CDE/CDSS consultant (required to attend all sessions)
  • New program directors and site supervisors
  • New administrators responsible for conducting the agency’s professional development
  • Quality Count California programs and family child care providers are welcome to attend. Some material or training sessions may not pertain to your current work.

The virtual training series session dates for administrators are as follows:

October 6, 2021, 8:00 – 11:00 a.m. AND 1:00 – 4:00 p.m.* (new administrators only)

  • Overview of Desired Results System – 8:00 – 11:00 a.m.
  • DRDP Online – 1:00 – 4:00 p.m.

October 7, 2021, 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. AND 1:00 – 3:00 p.m.*
This full-day session will consist of four breakout session opportunities. Participants may register for two sessions which will include the following topics:

  • The Role of the Administrator and Supporting Best Practice 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. or 1:00 – 3:00 p.m.
  • Family Partnerships and Supporting Family Culture 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. or 1:00 – 3:00 p.m.
  • Using DRDP Online Reports to Support Children’s Learning and Development* 9:00 – 11:00 a.m.
  • Supporting Dual Language Learners in Early Childhood 1:00 – 3:00 p.m.

Professional learning hours are granted per session. Participants must attend entire session to earn hours.

College credit:
Credit for one academic unit, or one continuing education unit, is available for the new administrator trainings. Academic unit requirements include attendance at all sessions, completion of selected virtual modules, completion of a final report, and an assignment.
