Administrator Training

CALIFORNIA DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION/EARLY LEARNING AND CARE DIVISION -- DESIRED RESULTS SYSTEM TRAINING

The California Department of Education, Early Learning and Care Division’s (CDE/ELCD) Desired Results (DR) System Regional Training will offer virtual training for administrators. The virtual training model includes a one-day, facilitated virtual training in October with facilitated virtual trainings throughout the year for completion.

The administrator training incorporates an overview and in-depth information about the Desired Results system; the implementation of the system at the classroom, program, and agency levels; reports including analyzing self-evaluation data and using data for quality improvement; and additional support on specific components of the Desired Results system. Participants also complete selected online modules available at California Early Childhood Online (CECO) www.caearlychildhoodonline.org.

Experienced administrators may attend any virtual facilitated session after October 21. The virtual training session for experienced administrators includes methods to support implementation of the Desired Results system, updates, new products and job aids. Registration is required.

Registration for administrators is on a first come, first served basis determined by the following priorities:

  • New California State Preschool Program (CSPP) administrators
  • Recommendation of CDE/ELCD Field Services Office (FSO) consultant
  • New program directors and site supervisors
  • New administrators responsible for conducting the agency’s professional development

The virtual training series session dates for administrators are as follows:

October 21, 2020, 8:00 – 11:00 a.m. AND 1:00 – 4:00 p.m.* (new administrators only)

  • Overview of Desired Results System – 8:00 - 11:00 a.m.
  • DRDP Online – 1:00 - 4:00 p.m.

October 22, 2020, 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. AND 1:00 – 3:00 p.m.*
This full-day session will consist of four breakout session opportunities. Participants may register for two sessions which will include the following topics:

  • The DRDP in a Virtual Environment 9:00 – 11:00 or 1:00 – 3:00 p.m.
  • Best Practices for Planning Curriculum for Young Children: Family Partnerships and Culture 9:00 – 11:00 or 1:00 – 3:00 p.m.
  • Using DRDP Online Reports to Support Planning* 9:00 – 11:00 a.m.
  • Supporting Dual Language Learners in Early Childhood 1:00 – 3:00 p.m.

October 22, 2020, 3:30 – 4:30 p.m. (optional)

  •  Q&A session

November 12, 2020, 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. OR 1:00 – 3:00 p.m.*

  • ERS, Including Considerations During COVID-19*

January 14, 2021, 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. OR 1:00 – 3:00 p.m.*

  • Family Partnerships and Trauma Informed Care

March 18, 2021, 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. OR 1:00 – 3:00 p.m.*

  • Program Self-Evaluation

May 6, 2021, 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. (optional)

  • Tying It All Together

Attendance is required for all dates.

Please note these training sessions are limited to CDE/ELCD-funded agencies invited to register.

College credit:

Credit for one academic unit, or one continuing education unit, is available for the new administrator trainings. Academic unit requirements include attendance at all sessions, completion of selected virtual modules, completion of a final report, and an assignment.
