California Early Childhood Online (CECO) Rater Certification Module ready for use by all early childhood educators

The California Department of Education (CDE), Early Education and Support Division (EESD), in collaboration with the WestEd Desired Results Training and Technical Assistance (DRTTA) team, has developed a new resource to support teachers in the Desired Results Developmental Profile (DRDP) rating process.

We are excited to have the California Early Childhood Online (CECO) Rater Certification Module ready for use by all early childhood educators. Completing the DRDP requires the collection of documentation, review and reflection of that documentation, and selection of the highest developmental level mastered. In this module, teachers have the opportunity to evaluate portfolio evidence of an unknown child and compare their ratings for that child on the DRDP (2015) with those of a master rater.

After teachers have earned a reliability score of at least 80 percent, they will obtain a certificate of reliability good for one year. After one year, they can retake it and become certified for two years. After two years, they can retake it and become certified for three years. Becoming a reliable assessor of the DRDP (2015) assessment tool will help to assure that DRDP data is valid and useful to help inform classroom practice.

Visit the CECO Web site at http://www.caearlychildhoodonline.org/.

Note: The DRTTA team recommends that teachers complete DRDP (2015) Teacher Training prior to beginning this rater certification process.
