Desired Results Developmental Profile (2025)
It is an exciting time in California as the Desired Results Developmental Profile (DRDP) is being updated to align with the new Infant and Toddler Learning and Development Foundations (ITLDF) and the Preschool/Transitional Kindergarten Learning Foundations (PTKLF). The DRDP (2025) assessment was developed with child development experts to align with current early childhood research and be more inclusive of all learners, including dual language learners and children with disabilities. Additionally, the domains of Social-Emotional Development and Approaches to Learning are now extended to third grade.
Become an Early Adopter
The California Department of Education (CDE) and the California Department of Social Services (CDSS), in partnership with WestEd, are inviting programs serving infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and transitional kindergarten through third-grade students to become early adopters of the DRDP (2025) beginning fall 2025. Programs that opt in can use DRDP (2025) instead of DRDP (2015) or use both. Please note that for children with Individualized Education Programs or Individualized Family Services Plans, the DRDP (2015) is still a requirement.
Participate in the DRDP (2025) Field Study
We are currently recruiting California educators to participate in the DRDP field study in Fall 2025. The field study is supported by both the California Department of Social Services (CDSS) and the California Department of Education (CDE). Stipends are available for eligible participants. The purpose of the field study is to collect a sufficient sample to scale and calibrate the tool for the 2026-27 field implementation.
